ABOUT
The Climate Atlas is the platform for climate adaptation in Kenya. Its goal is to contribute to a climate-proof Kenya. The atlas is part of the SAFE4ALL project, a European research project. This project combines European climate services with local African insights to create useful information for different areas in Kenya.
Who is the Climate Atlas for?
The Climate Atlas is meant for governments, businesses, teachers, students, agricultural workers, and farmers. It provides them with important information to help Kenya become climate-proof.
How was the Climate Atlas created?
The first version of the Climate Atlas was developed in 2019 through the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S). A team, including Climate Adaptation Services, the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute, Wageningen Environmental Research, and Jomo Kenyatta University, created the atlas for small-scale farmers and trained agricultural officials. They used freely available climate data from C3S. The atlas was further improved with support from the Orange Knowledge Programme.
